Arena Sinni is an arena built along the Sinni River, near the Monte Cotugno Dam, in Senise, Basilicata. Art and entertainment intertwine with nature, creating a magical combination.
Opened in 2015 with the show "Magna Grecia: The Myth of Origins – The Great Story of the Greeks in the West," Arena Sinni is shaped like an amphitheater and has a capacity of 2,500 seats.
The show that inaugurated the amphitheater told the story of Alexios, who, through the prediction of the Oracle of Delphi, follows his destiny as the founder of a new city in the ancient Lucanian land of Basilicata, facing dangers and mythological monsters, passing through wars and love in a metaphor of values still valid today.
The Monte Cotugno Dam, which serves as its backdrop, is the largest earth dam in Europe. The wall measures 1,850 meters in length and 60 meters in height.
