In the heart of the Pollino National Park, in the municipality of Morano Calabro in the province of Cosenza, the association "Il Nibbio" has repurposed old abandoned houses to create a natural history museum. Inside the rooms, you can find most of the typical fauna and flora of the UNESCO Geopark.

Il Nibbio - Pollino Naturalistic Study Center uses a widespread museum system consisting of rooms mainly dedicated to mammalian and ornithological fauna, entomology, and paleontology. Each species is immersed and contextualized in its specific natural habitats, representing a true well of discovery and knowledge of the rich biodiversity present in Pollino.

In the spaces of Il Nibbio, there is also school and cultural education and educational workshops. The social spaces are guaranteed thanks to the Literary Café, the Garden, and the Convivio.

The main objective of the Association is to counteract the degradation and depopulation of the historic center of Morano Calabro by offering tourists a truly unique experience, in houses where the stone breaks through the modern floor in a perfect symbiosis between architecture and nature.

Staying in the Houses of Il Nibbio is like taking a real dive into the past. Each house is inspired by traditional crafts, from ceramics to textiles, offering a vast collection of tools used in the production process.
